SAFTEC manufactures LiFePO4 battery packs for RV builders and system integrators; we do not manufacture RVs. We prepared this guide to help readers identify companies building recreational vehicles in Germany and understand which names refer to a manufacturing group, a vehicle brand, or a production plant. The ten entries are an unranked editorial selection, not a ranking by sales, output, or product quality.

| Eura Mobil | Motorhomes and campervans | Sprendlingen |
| FRANKIA-GP | FRANKIA motorhomes; Yucon campervans | Marktschorgast |
| Hobby Group | Hobby RVs; Fendt caravans | Fockbek and Mertingen |
| Knaus Tabbert | KNAUS, TABBERT, WEINSBERG, T@B and MORELO | Jandelsbrunn, Schlüsselfeld and Mottgers |

| Westfalia Mobil | Campervans | Gotha |
How we selected them: Each entry has a documented German production operation and a current recreational vehicle or camper product. We count a manufacturing group once even when it operates several brands or legal entities. We include detachable pickup camper cabins within the broader camper category. Germany’s caravan industry association CIVD identifies production companies located in Germany; company sources below establish the brand and plant relationships. A German factory does not mean that every vehicle sold under the same brand is built in Germany.
Manufacturer vs. Brand vs. Factory: Why the Distinction Matters
A list of German RV “brands” can contain several names owned by one group. Conversely, one brand may use factories in more than one country. These three examples show why a company name alone cannot identify the builder of a particular vehicle:
| Manufacturing group | Brand seen by the buyer | Production relationship |
|---|---|---|
| Erwin Hymer Group | Carado | Carado identifies CAPRON GmbH in Neustadt, Saxony as a production facility. Its company page also describes an Erwin Hymer Group plant in Poland associated with Carado. Check the model rather than assuming one factory makes every vehicle. |
| Knaus Tabbert | KNAUS, TABBERT, WEINSBERG, T@B and MORELO | These are five vehicle brands within one group. The group reports three production sites in Germany and one in Hungary. A brand name alone does not establish a model’s plant. |
| Carthago Group | Carthago and Malibu | Carthago identifies Aulendorf in Germany, plus Odranci and Ormož in Slovenia as production sites. It assigns particular Carthago motorhome series to Aulendorf or Odranci and Malibu vans to Ormož. |
This distinction is useful to RV buyers checking where a model is made. It also matters to component suppliers: the brand, the team approving a vehicle’s electrical design, and the plant installing its house battery may be different points in the same organization.
The 10 Manufacturers
Carthago Group
Carthago has its headquarters and a motorhome production facility in Aulendorf. Its published plant guide places the chic e-line, chic s-plus and liner-for-two series there. Other Carthago motorhomes are produced in Odranci, Slovenia, while the Malibu Van is produced in Ormož, Slovenia. Carthago is therefore a German manufacturer with a cross-border production network; the factory depends on the model.
Concorde Reisemobile
Concorde Reisemobile develops and builds luxury motorhomes in Schlüsselfeld-Aschbach. Its company information identifies an operating production site rather than just a German sales office. Concorde illustrates a different part of the market from high-volume caravan and campervan groups: larger, more individually specified motorhomes.
Erwin Hymer Group
The Erwin Hymer Group is based in Bad Waldsee and includes vehicle names such as HYMER, Bürstner, Dethleffs, Carado and LMC. The group belongs to U.S.-based THOR Industries, but it has substantial German manufacturing operations. Carado is a particularly clear example of the naming layers: Carado is the customer-facing brand, while CAPRON GmbH is a manufacturing company associated with its Neustadt plant. We count the group once rather than presenting each brand as an unrelated manufacturer.
Eura Mobil
Eura Mobil builds motorhomes in Sprendlingen. Its range includes different motorhome body styles and vans. The German company is part of France’s Trigano group. Foreign group ownership does not change the fact that Eura Mobil has a German vehicle production operation.
FRANKIA-GP
FRANKIA produces motorhomes in Marktschorgast and also presents Yucon campervans within its portfolio. The company’s history identifies France’s Pilote Group as its shareholder. FRANKIA belongs in a guide to German production, while its ownership should be stated separately from its factory location.
Hobby Group
Hobby builds caravans and motorhomes in Fockbek. The same group also owns Fendt-Caravan GmbH in Mertingen. Hobby and Fendt are distinct vehicle names and production operations within one group, so listing both as separate, unrelated parent companies would distort a manufacturer count.
Knaus Tabbert
Knaus Tabbert markets motorhomes, caravans and campervans under five vehicle brands: KNAUS, TABBERT, WEINSBERG, T@B and MORELO. Its 2025 annual report identifies factories in Jandelsbrunn, Schlüsselfeld and Mottgers, Germany, plus Nagyoroszi, Hungary. The group is one entry in this article; the five brands and four plants are different layers of that entry.
la strada Fahrzeugbau
la strada Fahrzeugbau specializes in campervans rather than trying to cover every RV category. Its company material identifies AVANTI, REGENT and NOVA model ranges and describes vehicle conversion in Echzell. This makes la strada a useful example of a focused German campervan manufacturer alongside the larger multi-brand groups.
Tischer Freizeitfahrzeuge
Tischer manufactures detachable living cabins for pickup trucks in Kreuzwertheim. It is included because a pickup camper is a distinct RV configuration with its own living-area power needs. Tischer should be compared with other pickup-camper builders, rather than treated as a conventional motorhome or caravan brand.
Westfalia Mobil
Westfalia is a campervan manufacturer within the French Rapido Group. Its company history identifies production in Gotha, Germany, and in France’s Vendée region. The German manufacturing connection is real, but the Westfalia name alone does not prove that a particular van was built in Gotha.
What This Means for an RV Battery Project
For an OEM battery project, the first useful identifier is the vehicle program and model, followed by the organization responsible for its electrical design and the plant where the battery will be installed. Carado and Carthago show why contacting a brand without checking the production arrangement can leave those questions unanswered.
Before specifying a LiFePO4 house battery, confirm the vehicle’s system voltage, available installation space, continuous and peak loads, charging sources, low-temperature requirements, communication needs and validation process. Then establish whether the proposed pack must fit one model or several vehicles across a group’s brands and factories.
SAFTEC develops RV LiFePO4 battery packs for OEM and project supply, with options for pack capacity, BMS, enclosure, terminals, communication, heating and branding. If you are sourcing for an RV program, send the vehicle model, electrical requirements, installation constraints and expected quantity so the battery specification can be checked against the actual application.
Conclusion
Germany’s RV industry includes large multi-brand groups, specialist motorhome builders and focused camper manufacturers. Their names describe different things: a corporate owner, a vehicle brand or a factory. Checking all three gives buyers a more accurate picture of where a model is built and gives component suppliers a better starting point for a vehicle-specific proposal.
